Living in the Midwest, we all know that tornadoes can be dangerous. This past weekend severe weather spawned tornadoes in Minnesota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. The worst damage having occurred in Joplin, MO.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the tornadoes and severe weather this weekend. Especially for those in Reading, KS and in Joplin, MO where their communities were devastated by these twisters. Those looking for family or friends can visit the American Red Cross Safe and Well List.
We can help the victims in these communities by giving blood at local blood drives or by donating money to the groups organizing relief efforts in these communities. You can visit the websites of the American Red Cross or The Salvation Army and donate to the relief efforts. You can also donate to either of these organizations by texting them and having a $10 donation added to your cell phone bill.
For donations to the American Red Cross, text “Red Cross” to 90999. To donate to The Salvation Army, text “Joplin” to 80888.
Your $10 can mean so much in terms of providing basic essentials to people in an extreme time of need.
